FREDERICTON – CyberHatch, the name of CyberNB’s new incubator and accelerator, will welcome five companies at a time with up to four cohorts expected per year.
CyberNB expects the program to drive immigration and create jobs in New Brunswick. CyberNB will make a multi-million-dollar investment along with partners Keirestsu Forum, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, Knowledge Park, and Miltacs.
“We are so pleased to launch the CyberHatch program to foster cybersecurity innovation and talent in New Brunswick,” said Tyson Johnson, CEO of CyberNB. “CyberHatch will bring global organizations to our province, create high-paying jobs, and see millions in investment from new revenue sources to grow this already thriving sector.”
In November, employment in New Brunswick rebounded to pre-COVID-19 levels with the addition of 4,200 jobs, marking the first significant gain since May and June. The 1.2 percent monthly increase included 3,400 full-time roles, contributing to a 0.5 percentage point drop in the unemployment rate to 9.6 percent. The services-producing sector saw the bulk of the gains, particularly in healthcare and social assistance (2,500 jobs added) and finance, insurance, real estate, rental, and leasing (1,100 jobs added). In the goods-producing sector, manufacturing led with 1,300 jobs gained, while construction and wholesale/retail trade experienced losses. Moncton’s labor force grew, but it lost 100 jobs, and Saint John gained 800 jobs with a rising unemployment rate. The Central Region, including Fredericton, had a lower unemployment rate of 6.6 percent, down from 8 percent in October, with a gain of 100 jobs. Across Canada, 62,100 jobs were added, and the unemployment rate decreased to 8.5 percent, with significant shifts towards remote work.
