{"id":14499,"date":"2022-01-20T08:17:11","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T08:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/?p=14499"},"modified":"2022-12-14T12:37:42","modified_gmt":"2022-12-14T12:37:42","slug":"top-up-to-workers-wages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/top-up-to-workers-wages\/","title":{"rendered":"TOP-UP TO WORKERS WAGES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>WORKERS WHO GIVE SERVICES TO VULNERABLE RESIDENTS WILL RECEIVE A TOP-UP TO THEIR WAGES.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The provincial government is suggesting a $3 per hour wage top-up for workers who work in <a href=\"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/opportunities-for-foreign-skill-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vulnerable <\/a>settings and receiving less than $18 per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CY8nxIZAi_H\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emergency <\/a>Essential Work Wage Top-Up started on January 15 after the province moved to Level 3 of the Covid-19 winter plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe highly value the important contribution of these workers, particularly since the beginning of the pandemic,\u201d said Social Development Minister Bruce Fitch in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are implementing this emergency wage top-up to support them, particularly during this challenging time,\u201d continued Fitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eligible are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Home support workers who work direct in-person care to seniors, adults, and children;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workers employed in group homes, community residences, special care homes, homeless shelters, and transition houses;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workers who work for Domestic violence intervention;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workers who work for Food bank and soup kitchen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is predicted more than 8,000 workers could benefit from the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar initiative was put in place during the first months of the pandemic in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Social Development will work with partner agencies to assist them in implementing the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information follow the link below: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-huddle-today wp-block-embed-huddle-today\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"qGqfb9VDSg\"><a href=\"https:\/\/huddle.today\/2022\/01\/18\/n-b-offering-wage-top-up-for-some-workers\/\">N.B.
