{"id":12939,"date":"2020-08-26T08:19:52","date_gmt":"2020-08-26T08:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/?p=12939"},"modified":"2024-02-18T10:56:15","modified_gmt":"2024-02-18T10:56:15","slug":"work-permit-for-visitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/work-permit-for-visitors\/","title":{"rendered":"Work permit for visitors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New temporary public policy will allow visitors to apply for a work permit without having to leave Canada<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 24, 2020\u2014Ottawa\u2014<\/strong>Visitors who are currently in <strong>Canada<\/strong> and have a valid <a href=\"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/work-permit\/\">job<\/a> offer will be able to apply for an employer-specific work permit and, if approved, receive the permit without having to leave the country, thanks to a new public policy announced today by the <strong>Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino<\/strong>, Minister of <strong>Immigration<\/strong>, <strong>Refugees <\/strong>and <strong>Citizenship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This temporary policy change takes effect immediately and will benefit employers in Canada who continue to face difficulties finding the <strong>workers <\/strong>they need, as well as temporary residents who would like to contribute their labour and skills to Canada\u2019s recovery from the <strong>COVID-19<\/strong> pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible, an applicant looking to benefit from this temporary public policy must<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have valid status in Canada as a <strong>visitor <\/strong>on August 24, 2020, and remain in Canada<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have a<strong> job offer<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>submit an application for an employer-specific <strong>work permit<\/strong> that is supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (<strong>LMIA<\/strong>) or an LMIA-exempt offer of employment, no later than March 31, 2021<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>meet all other standard admissibility criteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information follow the link below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/news\/2020\/08\/new-temporary-public-policy-will-allow-visitors-to-apply-for-a-work-permit-without-having-to-leave-canada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visitors who are currently in Canada and have a valid job offer will be able to apply for an employer-specific work permit and, if approved, receive the permit without having to leave the country, thanks to a new public policy announced today by the Honourable Marco E.L.
