{"id":12618,"date":"2020-04-24T11:28:40","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T11:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/?p=12618"},"modified":"2021-09-07T11:33:02","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T11:33:02","slug":"international-students-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/international-students-services\/","title":{"rendered":"International students services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Removing\nbarriers for international students working in essential services to fight\nCOVID-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><strong>Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>News release<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Temporary\nrule change aimed at helping health-care facilities, other workplaces\nunder&nbsp;pressure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 22, 2020<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Ottawa<\/strong>\u2014To help battle the COVID-19 outbreak, starting immediately, the government will remove the restriction that allows international students to work a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session, provided they are working in an essential service or function, such as <strong>health care<\/strong>, <strong>critical infrastructure<\/strong>, or the <strong>supply of food<\/strong> or other <strong>critical goods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the <strong>COVID-19<\/strong> outbreak, workers in certain roles and industries have been under considerable pressure, and the <strong>government <\/strong>recognizes that international students who are already present in Canada will help meet the challenges of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, thousands of <strong>international st<a href=\"https:\/\/swallowimmigration.ca\/en\/student-immigration-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">udents<\/a><\/strong> are studying in health- and emergency service-related programs, including many who are nearly fully trained and ready to graduate. This temporary rule change provides <strong>healthcare facilities<\/strong> with access to additional well-trained workers at a time when they are badly needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For more
